About Me

I am a philosopher and technology ethicist working in a Science,Technology, and Society (STS) department.

Having grown up in a four-generations-old family of death care workers, I

am especially interested in the social, legal, and ethical dimensions of people's relations with technologies used to manage and dispose of dead  human bodies. Through this work I engage with issues related to gender, labor, body studies, environmental humanities, science and technology policy, and, of course, death studies.

I live with my partner, child, and three cats in the beautiful foothills of Southwest Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains.
